When Teddy gets a brow trim

Teddy has long eyebrows. All Schnauzers do. Since it's the middle of Winter here, we choose not to have him groomed which means overhanging eyebrows. When we walk him at night, he often runs straight past us because he can't see past the hair.

Last weekend, we decided to give them a little trim for him. He seemed more than obliging.

I'm in my PJ's in this..please excuse.

Cheers to the weekend

Dear little blog of mine,
I am so excited to see the new layout and blog design that Bobbi is creating just for you. I love watching you grow and I love connecting with other bloggers!

Dear Sweet Steve (I'm just going to go ahead and use his name from now on),
Thank you for everything this week, last week and the many weeks before that. Thank you so much for the hilarious text message that had me snorting on the bus trying not to laugh out loud. The lady sitting next to me truly thought I was a weirdo...I could tell by the side glances.
These two love each other so much!
(excuse the terrible lighting!)

Dear lady on the bus,
I wish I could have showed you the text I received, but you wouldn't have understood the joke. Inside jokes are the best.

Dear Hair,
Oh my goodness. It has taken 23 years but I can finally say I can put loose curls in you. I am the most uncoordinated hair curler ever and I can finally do it! Hooray!

Dear Work,
Could you get any busier?! I sure don't fancy this staying back until 7pm business. I'm thankful the next couple of weeks should bring my usual finish time back.

Dear Weekend,
On that note, how awesome is it that you are here in about 24 hours. Let the drinks begin!

Dear K,
Cheers to the weekend lovely friend. Drinks will be flowing tomorrow evening and I can't wait for a girly catch up!

Dear Teddy,
How could I write letter's and not include you? Apart from your usual cuteness, I would just like to point out how seriously adorable it is that you are sitting next to me snoring away. Stay cute, Pup.

Girl Behind the Blog

Welcome to my second Vlog in the Girl Behind the Blog series!

Ashley from 5ohWifey is the main host and this month she teamed up with Lindsay from Trial By Sapphire which is awesome, because I love both of their blogs!

The topic this month is: Begin, Accomplish or Change.

A few things I have learnt this month:

-      Vlog’s don’t need to be perfect. Last month, I shot my vlog something like 5-6 times. This month, twice. I only re-shot because my first one was on my SLR and I knew the file would be huge.. well our internet is playing up at the moment, so rather than wait a million hours for it to upload to Vimeo, I just re-shot with my Mac’s cam and here you have the blurry video..yay!
-      I fidget, a lot!
-      Vimeo and Youtube are just so awesome at choosing a person’s best shot. I mean, look at that still at the start of my video. Flattering, right? Ha.
-      I am SO excited for my change!!
- I sound nasal because I'm still recovering from a cold (from weeks ago, what's with that?)
- S told me I sound too serious.. so next time I will try and be less serious ha!

Side note: I realise it kind of sounds like I am updating my blog just to gain new followers which I didn't mean. I am updating it so that I am more confident with my blog which might motivate me to blog more and be able to connect with other bloggers more.
Anyway, I guess you should just watch it. Here goes!

Body Image

Let me put something out there that we all know. We all come in different shapes and sizes, that's just how life works.

I get asked SO often how I stay thin. My answer is always healthy eating and exercise. My metabolism is a major part of the equation as well. It has always been good and I am thankful for that. It runs in my family and I can thank my Mum for my metabolism.

I'm a firm believer in accepting your body. If you are happy and you are fit then there is no reason comparing yourself to other women. A lady I know is constantly eating chocolate; sometimes all day long. She complains of putting on weight and asks me for my secret.

I often point out to her that we are all different and if everyone was the same size, what a boring world we would live in.

Your body is what you eat and what exercise you do (I know there are other factors!!). A healthy eating choice is one step closer to having the body you are looking for. I think so many people are hung up on comparing themselves to others and this is unrealistic.

There are so many websites and blogs that have tips on healthy eating, healthy recipes and quick exercise routines (or long ones if you are so inclined). So many resources at everyone’s fingertips for that little nudge toward getting healthy and fit and loving yourself that will have people wondering why they didn't start earlier.

I myself used to eat heaps of junk which I am slowly cutting down on. I'd like to become fit and healthy and to do this, I need to exercise more and eat less of the sweet treats I once loved. I won't cut this out completely, I will do it slowly. I don't think anyone should cut out their treats completely; we all need something to look forward to when eating lettuce (ha!).

Do you try and stay healthy?
Do you exercise regularly?
If so, what is your favourite way to exercise?

Blogger 411 - all about ME!

I found this fun link up when I was reading Melissa's blog the other day and I think it's a great way to get to know the writer a bit better. Plus I am seriously lacking time to blog lately, so I am loving link ups!

The questions are:

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?
2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?
3. Where have you travelled?
4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?
6. What is your favorite movie?
7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?
8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?
9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?
10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.
11. What day would you love to relive again?
12. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor would play you?
13. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?
14. Show us a picture from high school or college.
15. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?
16. Show us the most current picture of you or you, or your family, or anything of meaning to you.
17. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?

1. How long have you been blogging? And what got you started on blogging? Has your blog changed?

I have been blogging on and off for a couple of years. My blog is not yet where I want it to be, but I am trying to change that! Writing doesn't come naturally to me, but I want to change that so blogging is the outlet.

2. Did you go to college? If so where, and what did you study?

I am still at 'College' - We just call it University here in Australia. I started a Bachelor of International Studies at University of Canberra which I didn't like so I am not studying via correspondence through Swinburne University of Technology. I am studying a Bachelor of Business and majoring in Economics.

3. Where have you travelled?

I have travelled to Japan (twice), New Zealand, South Pacific and Northern Territory

Lake Tekapo - New Zealand

Japan Vending Machines

Hakuba, Japan

Tokyo - Japan

4. If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
Hmm, tough one. Maybe a holiday?

5. What are your 3 biggest pet peeves?

- Inconsiderate people
- People smoking while walking (so it blows in everyones face!)
- Bad service

6. What is your favorite movie?

The Duchess. I have watched that movie over and over and I LOVE it.

7. What is your drink of choice; wine, beer, or liquor. Or Water, Soda, Tea?

Hmm, Probably water. Cocktails are a close second!

8. What is something you enjoy to do when you have me time?

Sewing. I need more me time since I haven't sewn since May. I have a dress cut out and ready to go though.

9. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be?

Well, since we don't have all the awesome shops here that the US do, I would have to say David Jones.

10. Share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? Or present.

A tough one..Probably falling over in High School and my dress going straight up. Our school uniforms had pleats and flew at any given chance...the school got a good look at my underwear that day!

11. What day would you love to relive again?

I'm not married and I don't have children, so I can't use either of those. I'm stuck.. I have had many awesome days but I don't think there are any that I would specifically want to re-live.

12. If your life was turned into a movie... what actor would play you?

I'd love if Anne Hathaway could play me.

13. What are the jobs you had in high school/college/the early years?

A job at two different cafes from 14 years old to 17 years old. Then I got a job in a Call Centre before I moved to Canberra for Uni.

14. Show us a picture from high school or college.

 Year 12 Formal

Year 11 or 12.

15. If you could travel anywhere in the world, all expenses paid, where would you go?

The US and Europe. I know, that's so vague! I want to see most of the US states and in Europe I want to see the German speaking countries and rent a car and see the country side. Bliss.

16. Show us the most current picture of you or you, or your family, or anything of meaning to you.

We just took that right before I posted this.. Excuse my no-makeup face, I just showered.

Teddy and I on Sunday

17. Where do you see your life 5 years from now?

A good question since S and I were only talking about this last night. Maybe married with at least one child, well travelled, secure and I'd love if we owned our own home.

And there you have it - now you know just a bit more about me!

When all you can do is laugh (or cry)

Our bed had been on the way out for a couple of weeks, but S and I had been putting off getting a new one because our housemate is soon to be moving out and we will be rearranging some of our rooms. We weren't sure which room we would use as the main bedroom so just put up with the creaky bed.

A couple of weeks ago we had been to the gym, were showered and ready for bed at 11:30pm. I was downstairs and S was upstairs. All of a sudden I heard 'Oh crap, oh no'...'Rhi, can you come here'. I rushed upstairs to find S holding up the bed to stop it from falling on to Ted, who was sitting on the floor right at the foot of the bed. I quickly moved Ted before S let go and down fell the bed.

At 11:30pm we had the lovely task of dismantling the bed frame, clearing our stuff from under the bed and vaccumming all the dust that had been disturbed.. I should also note here that I have a pretty bad reaction to dust and my nose started to run and my eyes went itchy, puffy and red.

It was one of those moments where you laugh or cry. We were both exhausted and this was the last thing we wanted to do at 11:30pm at night. The whole time, Ted was asleep on the pile of quilts that we had put at the side and was a bit annoyed when I moved him back on to his own bed.

Now we have the awesome task of finding a new bed (yep, we've been sleeping on the mattress!). We've had a look at a few places but we're pretty picky so we haven't made a decision yet. Plus our housemate is moving this weekend so we'll be waiting until we've sorted out rooms.

Has your bed ever broken?
Have you ever had the pleasure or re-arranging a room at the most inconvenient time?

Our lazy weekend

I have been sick this past weekend, which resulted in a pretty low key weekend. Friday night, S and I went and got Mexican for dinner and then for cocktails. Cocktails are the best!

Saturday is when I woke up sick, so I spent the morning sleeping on the couch. We went for a walk to some antique furniture shops and to a rug store but came home empty handed. All purchases for another day!

Sunday I was a bit over the laying around on the couch thing, so we hopped in the car and went for a drive over to Ballast Point Park, Birchgrove. There is a good view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney skyline and a great view of all the yachts surrounding the park. S has been using the DSLR to capture some short movies which he will one day edit and I will show you.

Until then, here are some pictures from today (can I just say, I am loving this 19 degrees Winter weather? Sunny days, not too cold - yes please!)

Teddy loving life

I really need to buy some sunglasses!

How was your weekend?
Do you go for drives to get out of the house and get fresh air?

Dreaming...

Life has been busy lately. A whirlwind in fact. I am being left behind and I need time out.

Work will be really really busy until the end of July and I can't take any leave until after then. S has started a new job that see's him home later. I have had too much alone time and it is getting to me.

I am so proud of him and I am so thankful for the effort he is putting in so that we can live a happy life. His dreams are big and he is reaching them. I am soooo proud.

I am dreaming of a holiday away from the cold weather, away from work, away from the daily grind. S has no leave and can't come, so I will take some girlfriends instead.

Somewhere I can just relax on a beach, maybe get a tan (ha, I'm too white!), sip cocktails and clear my mind.

Fiji or Bali perhaps. Does anyone have recommendations? Where do you go to 'get away from it all'?

Oh, the dream

Sunny Sunday

Sydney was beautiful and sunny today, so rather than spend it doing Uni work, we decided to pick a suburb and go for a walk.

Our original intention was to head to Rose Bay, but instead we drove to Watsons Bay. There is a beautiful walking track that attracts a lot of people; both tourists and locals.

It was about 18 degrees which is really warm for a Winter's day. I certainly didn't need to be wearing a long sleeve top and boots!

The walk spans across the edge of the ocean and down to the small beach where many people go for fish and chips.

Sydney has some truly beautiful views and walking tracks and I am so lucky to live so close to such beauty. The best thing about the Winter weather is being able to warm up from a walk and cool down so quickly. I do love such nice weather and there is no way I could have wasted the day sitting at a desk all day!

I hope you all had a nice weekend. Do you live close to any nice walks?

Hey there, Friday.

Hello weekend, you have been missed! Am I the only one that thinks the weeks are flying by?

Dear Friday, we meet again, BFF.

Dear Bed, Thanks so much for breaking the other night at 11pm. I'm glad you thought the best time for that was 11pm. It's not like I was actually getting in to sleep or anything!

Dear S, I'm loving that you only work 2 streets away from me now. These little lunchtime rendezvous' are great! Also, I'm going to win the bet. I WON'T come home from my work party tipsy tonight. You'll see :-P (S thinks I will come home tipsy if previous work parties are anything to go by)

Dear Teddy, You're cute. Especially when you let me blowdry your wet little paws after running around in the rain. You've got that downpat.

Dear nephew-to-be, I can't wait to meet you. I knew it was a little boy growing in there and I am SO excited to meet you in November. Oh baby boy, you are already so loved.

Dear Camera, This weekend - no stuffups, ok? I'm a bit over it!

Dear work/uni, Life is hectic. Work you are super busy and Uni, you are persistent...tone down will you? I need to write more blog posts!

Dear Saturday, We've got big plans. Put on the good weather for us whydon'tya?

Happy weekend friends!

Life in Yellow

A couple of weeks ago, I was sent a photography challenge by This is Ess.
The challenge is Life in Yellow. Simple, but interesting.

I've had a lot of trouble with this challenge because my camera has been playing up. I went out to take pictures two weeks ago and my battery died after one picture was taken. I couldn't take pictures during the week because it's dark when I get home and my flash recently died (it's a new DSLR so I'm not sure what's going on there!). This past weekend, I was really busy and only managed to snap a couple of pictures.

Here is my take on Life in Yellow. I hope next challenge, my pictures are much better because I am not too happy with these ones!

For this picture, we used a lamp for lighting and used selective colour on our DSLR so it only picked up the yellow tones.
