ANZAC Day

My Anzac Day was spent with my family, whilst S stayed home doing uni assignments.

We went down to Bungonia which is about half an hour from Goulburn and spent the day exploring, eating and enjoying the company of family. Living so close to the city, it's really nice to get out of town for a bit and spend some time in the country.

We had a fire for warmth because it was so windy and cold and we also cooked lunch over.

Jimmy the goat. Jimmy was awesome, he was so friendly and just wanted to be patted. He kept trying to push my camera with his nose so I would pat him.

Trying to shoot a gun...way too heavy for me

The weekend that was..

Long walks around Sydney with our dog are slowly becoming a weekend regular. This past Saturday S and I decided to head over to Pyrmont, park the car and see where the walk took us. We ended up walking down to the waters edge and following the walk around to Jones Bay Wharf and Darling Harbour.

It was certainly an experience for Ted to walk through Darling Harbour and walking over the Pyrmont Bridge. A monorail passed overhead and Ted tried to run as fast as he could, but with some reassuring from me, he soon calmed down.

Please excuse the tag, S didn't tell me it was hanging out!

This is what happened when we got home...

I hope everyone else had nice weekends.

A night time stroll

Tonight I met a lovely friend for coffee and we spoke about the impending birth of her daughter. It is so lovely to hear about her pregnancy and all the many things she is excited for. We finished off the evening with a browse through Myer and David Jones looking at all the cute little outfits that she could buy for her baby.

Once I got home, I was greeted by a happy little dog who desperately wanted to go for a walk, after days of rain and being cooped up inside. Teddy hates getting wet, so for the past few days his outside time has been limited to toilet time only. S grabbed the camera and we hopped in the car and drove down to Black Wattle Bay.

Teddy loves to play racing. With a little 'on your marks, get set and go' he is off like a light flash. Heaven forbid you manage to beat his four little legs (almost impossible, he is incredibly fast!), as he will certainly act like the sore loser.

Black Wattle Bay is so relaxing to walk around in the evening. Even more so tonight, as there were only a handful of people on their evening walk.

The faint sound of cars on the Anzac bridge and the distant sound of seagulls whilst walking is a lovely end to a hectic work day.

Rainy Days

I'm sure everyone has heard about the non-stop rain in Sydney, so lets skip that.

After running out of mascara last week, I was on the search for something that was good and not too expensive. I read a few recommendations and ended up browsing glossi.com to find something decent.

I look for a few things in Mascara. Nice to layer, lasts all day and doesn't go gluggy. I ended up choosing Covergirl mousse mascara and after receiving it in the post, I am pleasantly surprised at the quality. I've had it on all day today and it looks the same as when I applied it this morning.

Whilst browsing, I also came across Revlon lip stain. I got the three pack and tried it out as soon as I got my package from the post office. The reviews I'd read were pretty mixed, but I wasn't too fussed if it didn't work since I'd only paid $17 for a three pack.

Well, it has lasted so well! I wore it all day today and came home with a pleasant berry glow on my lips. Usually, when wearing lipstick I have to re-apply a few times a day. With the lip stain I only need to reapply a gloss to keep my lips nice and shiny.

Shopping with glossi.com is easy and the package was sent out the day after I ordered. Very pleased!

Cafe 2042 - Newtown

I am always on the search for a new cafe to spend my weekend mornings. Often, we will get in the car and go for a drive to find somewhere but today we decided to venture to Newtown..after all, it is only a ten minute walk away.

After walking up and down King St, we decided on Cafe 2042. It was big, open and looked inviting. It also had a lot of people inside which definitely shows the quality of any restaurant/cafe.

I ordered an Acai, berry, banana and apple smoothie along with a serving of waffles with maple syrup and burnt fig ice-cream and S ordered a flat white for his morning caffeine intake and for breakfast he had bacon and maple syrup french toast.

The staff were quick to take our order and we had our drinks and meals within about 15 minutes which I think is great..I hate waiting too long for breakfast, since I usually haven't eaten at that time of the day!

My meal was great, definitely a big enough serving. I didn't really like S's french toast, but I don't like bacon and maple syrup together, so I guess that's why.

I definitely recommend this place if you are around Newtown!

Green Jeans

I love coloured jeans. When I was in Japan I had my eye on just about every colour I saw, but I never thought I would be able to pull them off. Finally a couple of weeks ago I went to Cotton On and bought some green ones.

The jeans have stretched a little, but for $39.95 I am not complaining. Nothing a belt can't fix.

Motivation to exercise

Buying new exercise clothes is motivating. It is so much better running in compression pants and a singlet made for running, than an old shirt and yoga tights.

On Monday, I went to Birkenhead Point in search of a new handbag. Whilst I didn't get a new handbag, I did come home with some great new running gear which I promptly tried out on a 5km run to Blackwattle Bay.

As S and I were running, I flexed my arms and said 'I feel pro in these running clothes'....just as we ran past a guy getting out of his car. The guy replied with 'Haha, I hope you win'...Lucky I already had a red face from running!

Just another Easter..

This long weekend has been both busy and relaxing at the same time. I'm not sure if those are two words that usually go together, but there they are right there.

S's cousins came up from Melbourne and Friday was spent in and around Paddington eating good food and drinking great cider.

Friday night we saw S's friends band play, then went and had cocktails at Corridor in Newtown (which now happens to be my new favourite place for an amazing drink!) and then we finished off the night at our neighbours house with a few drinks and good company.

Needless to say, Saturday we were all a little dusty but we soldiered on and went to S's Grandmothers house for a late lunch. Since S's brother is a chef, the food was amazing!

Saturday night, we stayed at S's family's farm and we busied ourselves with drinking more cider (I know, that's a lot of cider for one weekend!) and playing putt putt golf...in the house..

yes..pyjama pants

Sunday was low key, we visited my family and then went home where we also spent Monday.

I hope you all had a Happy Easter!!

Teddy got a haircut...

And he looks fine...
