What else do you do...

When it is 30 degrees outside? I think it is well known that I don't cope in the heat (and if it wasn't before, it is now). When I woke up on Sunday morning, I went downstairs and let Teddy out to go to the loo and discovered how hot it already was at 8:30am.

S and I decided it was about time we headed for a beach day, so we caught the bus then ferry to Manly to meet with his brother, J. J lives close to Manly Beach, but we decided on Manly Cove since there are no waves and we could use the pool floats to relax and well...float around.
For $10 pool floats (from the $2 shop), they certainly did the trick. We fell off a couple of times, but I think that has more to do with being uncoordinated than anything else... (for me anyway!).

Whilst floating around and watching the locals run by doing exercise, or walk by on their way to drinks/dinner/lunch, I made the decision that the beach is where I want to live. I tried to talk S in to my plans, though he wasn't as enthused as me. Something to do with hating sand..
I am still hopeful that one day living close to the beach is a reality because I love the beach. I find water so calming and being able to just walk on the beach when I felt like it would be amazing.

Sunday mornings like these

This morning I was woken at 8am by Steve calling my name from the kitchen. I could smell the bacon cooking and that was enough to get me out of bed instead of rolling over to steal more sleep.

I came downstairs and noticed that he had not only put on a whole breakfast for me, he had also made me a coffee.
We sat down together to eat breakfast and by 9am we had eaten and were ready for the day. That doesn't happen often around here. I enjoy my sleep ins and can usually still be found in bed at 10am.

Now I sit here at 9:30am with a whole day ahead of me. There is something about rising early on a weekend that has such a feeling of accomplishment. Don't you think?

In case you were wondering, this is what my natural, untamed hair looks like right now. Stunning, I know..

Now, as I have a pup asleep next to me I am planning my day ahead. Sadly, that includes doing some Uni work.

Have a lovely Sunday!

Spring Sundays

I know it's Wednesday. Better late than never, right?

Since S and I are heading overseas for Christmas, we have been trying to stay in more. This means eating out less, going out for drinks less and just spending more time around the house.

Sunday is usually the day we spend doing study. Generally, study is pretty boring so we find ways to break up the day and this more often then not involves a walk with the dog and a cooked lunch (sometimes lunch out).
For some reason, S thinks bacon and pancakes/french toast go together. I beg to differ.

This past Sunday, I really felt like french toast. So, french toast it was. We decided we would try and make it with brioche.

Best french toast ever! Brioche makes a fantastic french toast.

No weekend is complete without some lollies.
During our walk, I stopped to try and find some four leafed clovers. Whilst bending down, I noticed S was snapping photos of me. Later as we were uploading them to the laptop, he asked me why I had bent down to pick up rubbish. Um, ok.

How was your weekend?
What do you do to save money?

Sunday with my loves

Sundays around here are lazy days. Steve and I usually wake up around the same time and stay in bed chatting for awhile.. until Teddy jumps on us, insisting that we get out of bed.

After breakfast, we decided we didn't want to stay home all day and got ready for a drive up to Pittwater, to the dog beach up there.

I put on an outfit that I thought kind of matched (I usually dress in what is comfortable. I am not fashionable), then Steve tried to get some 'outfit' shots for me. I'm way too awkward..

The pointy bits on this blouse are darts....

Sunny Sunday

Sydney was beautiful and sunny today, so rather than spend it doing Uni work, we decided to pick a suburb and go for a walk.

Our original intention was to head to Rose Bay, but instead we drove to Watsons Bay. There is a beautiful walking track that attracts a lot of people; both tourists and locals.

It was about 18 degrees which is really warm for a Winter's day. I certainly didn't need to be wearing a long sleeve top and boots!

The walk spans across the edge of the ocean and down to the small beach where many people go for fish and chips.

Sydney has some truly beautiful views and walking tracks and I am so lucky to live so close to such beauty. The best thing about the Winter weather is being able to warm up from a walk and cool down so quickly. I do love such nice weather and there is no way I could have wasted the day sitting at a desk all day!

I hope you all had a nice weekend. Do you live close to any nice walks?
