I am running towards (ha!) my goal of 300km this year slowly but surely. So far, I am up to about 90km, but have only recorded 77.71km according to my Nike Running app. I definitely need to up my game if I want to reach 300km since we're almost half way through the year already...the running needs to increase and the excuses decrease. I'll get there!
For the past four weeks I've also been following a program called Tone it up and I finally can mention it on the blog because I have actually stuck to something for like the first time ever! Yay. It's currently in the bikini series 8 week course leading up the US summer so I am going to have a wonderful bikini body to cover up in Winter!
The program is so easy to follow with day to day videos to follow. You are encouraged to do a 'bootycall' in the morning (go for a run), but there is no getting me up in the morning so I am sticking to the workouts only. I usually only run about 3 times a week anyway. The workouts target a different part of your body each day, so the pain the next day never seems quite as bad.
My eating habits have improved and I am eating less junk and opting for more healthy options. It helps that there are healthy options close to work and close to where I live. We recently found a paleo cafe close by and whilst I am not jumping on any band wagons, I do appreciate being able to get a quick meat and veg dinner to heat up at home when I can't be bothered to cook.

Running towards my goal
The weeks are flying by and I am glad to see the beginning of Autumn tomorrow. It's been a pretty uneventful week for me but I thought I'd pop in and update my running and how I am going towards my goal. I am doing max two runs a week at the moment, mostly due to laziness. Some runs are better than others and the last run I did, I managed an average pace of 4 minutes 44 seconds over 4km. Not that quick, but not bad either. 30.82km over 8 weeks is not much at all and if I want to reach my goal of 300km this year, I need to get running a lot more often!
I was considering running a half marathon in May, but that definitely won't happen so I might try for one I saw being held in September.
Apart from the little effort of running, I've been doing a bit of a workout every night/every second night that involves 2 sets of: 20 crunches, 20 squats, 20 lunges and 20 sit ups. I just do it while I'm watching TV or waiting for Steve to make my coffee in the morning. I've been doing it about two weeks now and so far so good.

Running | Week One
These running posts will serve to hold me accountable for my
goal of 300km of running this year and also as something for me to look back on
to see if I’ve gotten quicker etc.
So far, I have gone for 2 runs this week. The first run was
about 4.3km and the second was right on 4km. I use the Nike running app to
track the runs as it tells me each kilometre where I am at and my average
speed.
The first run didn’t track properly so I am counting that as
a practice as I’d like the app to track my full 300km of running this year. Consequently,
I have done one tracked run this week that was 4km long and this was around an
oval. I will have to do another run over the weekend to get my average per week
distance of 5.5km which is fine as I had planned on 3 runs per week anyway.
Run one – practice – 4km
Run two – 4km | 20 minutes | average of 5 minutes per kilometre
